The Somerset Xmas Parade

The day of the Christmas Parade at Somerset was cold and windy, but it didn’t dampen everyone’s enthusiasm! We had a wonderful time!IMG_4596IMG_4603IMG_4606

Parade with Yolla District School

In November and December I had a wonderful time working with the staff and kids from Yolla District High School on a theme for the Sommerset Christmas Parade -it was decided to celebrate 50 years of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I designed the parade layout, and made a giant caterpillar puppet with the kids. Kindergarten stamped the design on the fabric with stamps and blocks. Year 6 and Year 7 helped sew it together, and under the guidance of Mrs JLK painted beautiful caterpillar foods, and a giant butterfly.

My hats find a home!

My Madhatter’s Tea Party hat and giant Cappuccino Hat have found a permanent and loving home at Bygone Beautys Treasured Teapot Museum and Tearooms at Leura.

These hats received considerable media coverage at The Melbourne Cup and at Randwick Racecourse, also winning the Crazy Hat Competition.

The museum is well worth a visit when you are in the area with some stunning examples of Teapots and relevant paraphernalia.

You can find more information about the museum at http://www.bygonebeautys.com.au.

I’m pictured with Maurice Cooper OAM who is the owner of the museum.

Message in a Sock Book Launch

I launched my new picture book Message in a Sock at the National Wool Museum in Geelong, Victoria. I finally met the author Kaye Baille, and Anna Solding, the editor of MIdnightSun Publishing.

It was a huge turn out, volunteers had made red crochet poppies, and Anzac Biscuits were served. The museum is so interesting, the staff welcoming and the historical building a great location for the book launch.

Fox and Moonbeam Launch

I had a fun afternoon at the launch of Fox and Moonbeam. We made Fox and Moonbeam masks and the kids got to explore Springwood Library answering questions to the Forest Forage quiz. Thanks to everyone who attended to make it such a fun afternoon.

Fox and Moonbeam

Today is the official release date for Fox and Moonbeam written by Aleesah Darlingson, published by Wombat Books (Yay! Buy Australian!) and illustrated by me! I worked on the illustrations for 18 months, so it’s very exciting to have the finished product. The very first signed copy went to my mum (pictured) who has dementia and still loves children’s books and all creative things.

About Fox and Moonbeam:

It is Victorian England and Gerard Fox winds clocks for the queen. His lowly status means he lives in a world forever surrounded by shadows. Mademoiselle Moonbeam Lapin is a famous ballerina. She lives in the golden glow of stage lights. When Moonbeam offers Fox her friendship, both of their worlds are transformed forever. Beautifully written and lavishly illustrated, Fox and Moonbeam is an enchanting tale of friendship, self-belief and finding the courage to step into the light.

You can buy Fox and Moonbeam from Wombat Books

Scenic World Shopping Night

The inaugural Scenic World Shopping Night occurred on November 10th in Katoomba. I was so excited to see the new Mountains Made display of my puppets and illustrations. I even made the Blue Mountains Gazette, pictured with the lovely Kelly Heylen, the Creative Industries Cluster Manager for Blue Mountains Economic Enterprise (BMEE).
