The Somerset Xmas Parade

The day of the Christmas Parade at Somerset was cold and windy, but it didn’t dampen everyone’s enthusiasm! We had a wonderful time!IMG_4596IMG_4603IMG_4606

My hats find a home!

My Madhatter’s Tea Party hat and giant Cappuccino Hat have found a permanent and loving home at Bygone Beautys Treasured Teapot Museum and Tearooms at Leura.

These hats received considerable media coverage at The Melbourne Cup and at Randwick Racecourse, also winning the Crazy Hat Competition.

The museum is well worth a visit when you are in the area with some stunning examples of Teapots and relevant paraphernalia.

You can find more information about the museum at

I’m pictured with Maurice Cooper OAM who is the owner of the museum.

Scenic World Shopping Night

The inaugural Scenic World Shopping Night occurred on November 10th in Katoomba. I was so excited to see the new Mountains Made display of my puppets and illustrations. I even made the Blue Mountains Gazette, pictured with the lovely Kelly Heylen, the Creative Industries Cluster Manager for Blue Mountains Economic Enterprise (BMEE).

Pirates and Pirate Bikies!

Ahoy me mateys!

In September I was Captain for our CBCA Blue Mountains Sub-branch Talk like a Pirate Day at Katoomba Library!

I held a pirate finger puppet workshop with our budding little pirates!narelda-joy

And I also became a Pirate Bikey…well temporarily when Biblio Turismo arrived for their library visit!   See more of them at

Kinross Wollaroi School Talk

In October I had the most beautiful and inspirational day at Kinross Wollaroi School in Orange talking to kids from Kindergarten to Year 6 about design and illustration. We had enormous fun designing characters and I was greatly impressed with the talent I saw.

Definitely some future illustrators in the making!

Scenic World !

What an opportunity!

I am blessed to be one of 14 local artisans to be selected to have their work sold in the new Mountains Made section of Scenic World at Katoomba.

Scenic World have chosen my Australian Animal Puppet, Print and Card Ranges for display and sale in their new store opening in June 2016.

Over 850,000 people visit Scenic World ever year. It’s worth a visit if you’re ever in the Blue Mountains of Australia. The views are spectacular.

Here are some of my designs:IMG_7014

I’m at the Nook!

On January 9th I joined The Nook at Leura!

The Nook is a cooperative of around 35 artisans who share a lovely light filled space on the second floor of a heritage building on Leura Mall, right near Leura Railway Station.

There are four rooms of beautiful hand made items, all of which are made in the Blue Mountains of Australia. We each have a stand with our work displayed for sale.

Here is my stand upon opening. It has gone through many changes since then!

The Nook has been operating for 20 years this year!Narelda_Joy_Nook

Wollemi Market

The sun was sun shining, the weather delightfully warm, and there was a beautiful blue sky at the Wollemi Art Market today at the Katoomba Cultural Centre.

Thank you to all my lovely customers who came along including some young lads from Blackheath Primary School who came especially to buy some art prints!

I’ll keep you posted on my next market appearance.

Winter Magic Begins!

It’s time for the wonderful Winter Magic Festival in the main street of Katoomba tomorrow!

This year’s theme is PEACE.

I’ll be sharing my stall with the talented Jade Young and we have a delightful PEACE forest of animals for you to peruse including brand new lovely quality A3 sized prints at $15. There will also be my wooly fox puppets to buy!

We are located at stall A9 at the bottom of Katoomba Street, a couple of doors up from The Hattery.
